THIS KID ROCKS

Turning fans into fuel — this teen is sparking an energy revolution

Phillies fans (⚾) may not have been able to actually register on the Richter scale when Bryce Harper hit a homer, but one remarkable kid thinks she can harness that noise in a surprising way.

Inspired by the Disney movie Monsters, Inc., where energy is generated from children’s screams 😱, 17-year-old (Gyeongyun) Lily Min had a wild idea—

What if we could convert noise from sports arenas — into electricity? ⚡

For seven months, Lily worked tirelessly, designing models and running experiments, even though her resources were limited to low-quality materials and her parents’ garage.

But her findings were compelling, and earned her a spot as a finalist in the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair — a huge deal for young scientists.

While the energy she was able to produce was small, her work shows big potential. Lily hopes that with better materials, her idea could help reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. 🌎

This rockstar teen is already tackling real-world problems, proving that kids don’t have to wait for adulthood to start making a difference.

Lily illustrates that with enough creativity and determination, even the smallest efforts can spark a world-changing idea. 👊
