Prequel's got big goals

Raising the ambitions of kids starts with raising the ambitions of the Prequel team.

Last week, our entirely remote team, representing seven different countries, joined together in Portugal for some high-impact strategizing and relationship building.

It rocked. šŸ¤˜

But hereā€™s the thing ā€” ambition is relative. Itā€™s a super squishy concept that means different things to different people.

So my #1 goal for the week was to align the team on a mindset shift towards taking massive action towards massive goals.

I love talking about crushing goals. šŸ‘Š

Hereā€™s what we aligned on:

1. How much we achieve is based on how big our goals are

We hold Prequel kids accountable to Olympic-level goals with massive impact.

But what the heck does that mean?

šŸŽ™ļø While most people would be impressed with a kid simply starting a podcast thatā€™s good enough to attract a few listeners, we push kids to get millions in distribution.

šŸ“± When a kid presents an app idea that serves consumers, we challenge them to think about how the concept can be adapted to serve businesses with real money to spend on solving problems.

šŸ§  Or, when they come to us with an idea thatā€™s centered in their own expertise, we encourage them to leverage AI to 10x their output.

These are Olympic-level goals.

Our Head of Marketing, Samantha Leal, knows a thing or two about Olympic-level goals. She keeps us in line.

Our team must adopt the same Olympic-caliber mindset.

We need to sprint to our goals as fast as possible ā€” with the urgency and dedication of an Olympic athlete.

Hereā€™s our commitment:

šŸ‘‰ This year, we are planning to run our first 1,000-student program and our first 10,000-student program.

And Iā€™m not scared, becauseā€¦

2. It's okay to fail as long as we play to win

To achieve this goal, we need to experiment with methods and place some big bets ā€” not rely on safe deliverables.

Prequel kids are pushed to take big risks because trying and failing teaches you so much more than not trying at all.

Hereā€™s how weā€™re going to do it:

šŸ‘‰ We will be testing strategies that have never been tried before in education.

 This is important becauseā€¦

3. We need to disrupt the way kids learn

Thereā€™s a couple of big problems with the way kids are currently be served:

  • One-on-one and small-group tutoring is not scalable

  • Free content and AI tutors don't get meaningful results

Apollo Program Director, Zain Punjwani, is stoked to disrupt how kids learn. He works with rockstar tweens every day.

Prequel programs deliver a personalized and engaging way for kids to get real-world results as a demonstration of learning.

But we need to scale our programs to be able to serve millions of kids ā€”flexibly and affordablyā€” without compromising on results.

šŸ’„ This has never been done before.

ā€”

Iā€™m going to continue to share more of what we are brewing up over here at Prequel, and Iā€™m stoked to have you along from the ride!

Stay tuned ā€” big moves are happening in 2024ā€¦

ā€¦but not these moves. šŸ‘‡ļø

We probably could have been arrested for moves like these in Portugal. šŸ˜¬

Welp. Thatā€™s embarrassing.
