This kid “Towers” over his competition
Ben Towers began building his empire at age 11. Source: bentowers.com
Ben Towers began his career in entrepreneurship at 11 years old.
You read that correctly. 🤯
And he wasn’t selling lemonade, or mowing lawns — he was creating a digital marketing empire long before he ever reached adulthood.
Now, you might be thinking that this is “unbelievable”, but I meet kids like Ben every day.
He’s just one soldier in an army of kids who are capable of far more than adults give them credit for.
You can’t be a lifelong entrepreneur if you don’t start as a kid…
While most kids his age were busy on the playground, Ben was launching his first venture.
He had a talent for tinkering with technology, and an indomitable curiosity about business.
So when a family friend needed a website for their business, they decided to give 11-year-old Ben a shot at it.
Using YouTube as his teacher, Ben created a site that didn’t just deliver what his family friend wanted — it impressed the heck out of them. 👊
They paid him £50 for his contribution, and Ben was hooked. He wanted to do more.
Word spread about this talented tyke, and soon, he had a steady stream of clients. He began employing freelancers to assist with the workload since he was still, you know, a full-time student. 🤷
Towers Design was born.

This thing isn’t a fad
Ben entered secondary school, and business was booming.
Aside from building websites, his company also began providing comprehensive digital marketing services.
By the age of 17, Ben had a team of over 25 employees. And Towers Design was making waves in the industry.
But it wasn’t easy. In fact, the challenges he overcame seem nearly impossible.
⚖️ Balancing school and business. Holy cow, talk about time management! Ben had to skillfully balance his schoolwork with his business responsibilities.
🙄 Being taken seriously. Ben faced a ton of skepticism from both clients and business partners due to his young age. Convincing adults to trust him was no easy feat.
🤝 Building a professional network. It’s hard for a kid to break into professional circles, but it was vital to the sustainability of his business, especially since Ben’s parents were not business professionals.
💰 Financial management. Most kids can barely manage a $20 allowance — but Ben had to learn how to effectively budget his company, price his services, and wisely re-invest profits to grow.
📈 Scaling. In order to grow, Ben had to hire and manage a team, learn how to delegate, and maintain the quality of his company’s services.
🏛️ Legal and regulatory hurdles. Businesses have to comply with complex regulations, and Ben had to keep his finger on the pulse of an ever-changing regulatory landscape. In fact, to keep his status as a “student”, he became the first person to ever employ himself as an apprentice! Talk about a loophole. 😆
👉 Despite these challenges, Ben was able to successfully grow and sell Towers Design for millions of pounds — at the age of 18.
This sale enabled him to launch his second company: Happl — an employee benefits and engagement platform.
And now at 25, Ben is focused on sharing what he’s learned over his 14-year journey as an entrepreneur. 👏

Ben's solid advice 👊
According to him, Ben’s success boils down to passion and perseverance. “Find something you’re passionate about and go all in,” he says.
He also emphasizes the importance of surrounding yourself with the right people. “Build a network of mentors and peers who support and challenge you,” Ben advises.
And (not to sound like a broken record) Ben also highlights the importance of something we stress here at Prequel — learning from failures.
“Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Each failure is a stepping stone to success. Learn from it, adapt, and keep moving forward.”
