This teen dismissed her Olympic dream — but her father didn’t
Don Anderson didn’t think his 14-year-old daughter Lola’s dreams were farfetched.
When he found a discarded journal entry detailing her Olympic hopes — he kept it.
👉 That was 2012.
Last week, Lola Anderson earned a gold medal for Great Britain in the women’s quad sculls, edging out the Netherlands in a photo finish. 👊
And while Don wasn’t around to celebrate with her, he was the reason she was there.
A few years ago, Don was sadly diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Before he succumbed to his illness, he gifted Lola’s discarded journal entry back to her “as a reminder and a memento that even when you don't back yourself, your parents and loved ones always do.”
That heartfelt gesture lit a fire in Lola that led her all the way to Olympic gold. 🔥🥇
Believe in your kids — especially when they don’t believe in themselves.

💸 Get that hustle: Side-hustles aren’t limited to college kids — colleges themselves are now raking in side revenue.
🌎 A new definition of “studying abroad”: Here are some interesting takeaways from a year of studying childcare around the world.
🤖 Bending to pressure: Colleges are adding AI to their curriculum in an effort to prepare students for the new world they’ll face after graduation.
❤️🩹 Starting to perk up: Record-high mental health issues in teens are beginning to subside — four years after the pandemic.
🧠 It literally hurts to think: A new study concluded that too much mental exertion can lead to “irritation, frustration, or other negative feelings.”
🛩️ Finally — some good news from the airlines: A new proposed law might make it illegal for airlines to charge extra to parents who want to sit with their children. No word yet on if they’ll charge extra for you to not sit with them. 😉
📊 ICYMI: Does your kid have a business idea? Have them do these two things.
