You read Prequel because you want to instill an entrepreneurial mindset in your kid.
But it’s easy to over-think entrepreneurship.
It’s even easier to put off getting started because you’re over-thinking.
Gahhhh…it’s a vicious cycle.
So I’m going to give you 15 activities you can do with your kid this week. Each activity tackles one of three tenets of entrepreneurship:
Problem-solving
Risk-taking
Creativity
All you have to do is pick one activity, and simply get started.
No excuses. 👊

Problem-solving activities
🥷 Create your own escape room: Design a mini escape room using household items. Kids solve puzzles to unlock the next clue, leading to a small prize. ⭐ BONUS – if you’ve got older kids and younger kids, have the older kids design one for the younger kids!
🔎 The classic scavenger hunt: Create a scavenger hunt with complex clues that require solving riddles or puzzles to find the next location or item.
🛠️ Fix some gadgets: Provide a set of common household items that are purposely "broken" and challenge kids to figure out how to repair them using available tools and materials.
🧑🍳 Mini iron chef: Provide a “theme ingredient” for your kid to plan a meal around. Make them select other ingredients from what you have in the house, or take ‘em to the grocery store and let them create their own culinary masterpiece.
♟️ Board game hack: Take a classic board game and ask your kid to modify the rules to create a new game, focusing on creating challenges and solving them for a new gameplay experience.
Risk-taking activities
👀 Cover their eyes: Engage in activities like blindfolded food tasting or navigating a maze blindfolded to push boundaries of comfort and control.
🗣️ Public speaking: Set up a scenario for your kid to prepare and deliver a short speech or presentation on a topic of their interest to family members.
💪 Get physical: Have your kid try a new physical activity, such as rock climbing, rollerblading, or yoga, pushing them to engage with new physical challenges.
🚸 Do it by themselves: Identify something you usually do with your kid, but they’re almost ready to do by themselves — such as walking to school, cooking dinner, or caring for a younger sibling. Time to step off the ledge.
⛺ Night camping in the backyard: Organize a night of camping in the backyard, where kids are involved in setting up the tent, cooking outside, and spending the night outside of their comfort zone.
Creativity activities
💡 Invent a board game: Have your kid design and create their own board game, including the rules, board, pieces, and cards — it’s both strategic and artistic.
📗 Create a comic book: Instruct them to create a short comic or graphic novel, drawing the illustrations and writing the story themselves.
🐚 Go on a mosaic mission: Using stones, shells, or broken ceramics, your kid can create mosaic artwork in the garden or on a wooden base. The practice of bringing together broken or dissimilar things to create something new is the best lesson in creativity.
🧙 Fantasy map-making: Encourage your kid imagine a world, and draw a map for it. Have them consider geographical features and make up places and names that tell stories within their unique universe.
🎬 Lights, camera, action!: Challenge your kid to write a short script and film a movie using a smartphone or camera, exploring storytelling and basic video editing.
C’mon! Just pick one and get started. 👊
